Here on this site, we hope you will find the answers you seek, whatever they are.

Brethren are expected to attend LOI as regularly as they can.

For those who are interested in joining this Essex Lodge, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Simply contact the Secretary or Mentor (see the Contact Us page), if you would like to enquire about joining or have any questions regarding Freemasonry in Essex.

To become a Freemason you do not need to be a professional or successful in your career. There are an estimated five million Freemasons worldwide from various careers and backgrounds.

You must be at least twenty one years of age: there is no other requirement other than that you hold a belief in a "supreme being", by any name or designation. At any Masonic meeting you are likely to find a wide range of religions as well as political attachments represented: we don't really know, because discussion of specific religions and politics is strictly forbidden as the key work associated with our meetings is "HARMONY".

You will also find a wide variety of professions and occupations as well as incomes! Freemasonry in Essex is not restricted to the rich & powerful, it is for all men!**

Being a Freemason does not provide you with any financial advantage in business, but if you would like spend some of your time helping others less fortunate than yourself and meeting with people who have similar aims then perhaps you should consider becoming a Freemason.

** NB: the Freemasonry practiced at St. Michael's, as members of the United Grand Lodge of England & Wales, is "Men Only" but it is not well known that there is a kindred organisation for the Ladies. The Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons was founded in November, 1913: for more information, see www.hfaf.org!

St. Michael's is in the Provincial Grand Lodge of Essex. For more information on the Province and Essex Lodges, see the Contact Us page!
