A Message from the Worshipful Master of

St. Michael's Lodge No.6683

I was first Installed as Master of St. Michael's Lodge in 1990! That 26 years seems to have passed so quickly, though for many of them I was a very busy Secretary of the Lodge. The Members asked me to take the Chair for a second time to give some breathing space to some of our more recent members who otherwise would "rise through the ranks" too quickly and not have time to enjoy their Masonry.

We do not put anyone under undue pressure, and that includes pushing them too hard towards the "ultimate office" of Master of the Lodge: there is a lot to learn along the way and personal enjoyment is increased by having the time to learn a job before taking on the challenge of the next one.

St. Michael's' is a very friendly Lodge. We believe in getting the "work" right but balancing it with a relaxed atmosphere, being a group of very close friends as well as Masonic Brethren. Having said that, we welcome new members, either new to Masonry or joining us from other Lodges.

Indeed, my Junior Warden, Graham Horsler, joined us from another Lodge only a couple of years ago but has the experience to be in our Chair in two years time, we hope!

My Senior Warden, Derek, joined us in the early 90's and was Master of this Lodge in 1996; he has been Master on five occasions in three Lodges so, again, if, as expected, we appoint him Master in 2017-18 there will be another year for our new Brethren to get to grips with their individual roles as well as their places in the team.

So, thank you for visiting our web site; we would love to see you at St. Michael's' Lodge in the village of Orsett, either as a visitor or joining this great fraternity of Freemasons.

Sincerely,

Peter (Pete) Redman
